Radu Iliescu is Professor of Pharmacology and Vice-Rector at “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași, Romania, where he leads institutional development strategy, academic management, and digitalization. He is also a Senior Researcher at the TRANSCEND Research Center, Regional Institute of Oncology. With over two decades of academic and research experience, he has previously served as Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Research.
Trained in Romania, Germany, and the United States, he completed his PhD in collaboration with the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin and pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. His research focuses on cardiovascular and renal physiology, hypertension, obesity-related kidney injury, and computational modeling in biomedical sciences. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, several book chapters, and has coordinated major research projects funded by the EU, NIH, and the American Heart Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Heart Association.
Radu Iliescu has extensive mentoring experience, supervising medical students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral fellows throughout his career, helping them refine their research skills, publish, and advance their academic paths.
